COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 1 escudo, Charles II posthumous, assayer ARCE to left, style of 1700-3, NGC AU 50.

 

Restrepo-M64.16; S-B24; KM-13; Cal-Type 210 (under Philip V); Fr-5a. 3.36 grams. Choice full shield with upper half transposed and other weird elements characteristic of the transitional period of 1700-3 (note slab says 1708-14 in error) with some legend visible including king's name (CARO)LO8 [sic] and bottom of assayer ARCE to left, also choice full cross, toned in crevices.
