Description:
Columbus, Georgia, Farmer's Bank of Chattahoochee, $20 proof, no date (1830s), pp A, rare.
Haxby-GA110G14. This extremely rare Georgia obsolete proof is the only known example for the denomination for this short-lived bank (by 1841, it became the Phoenix Bank of Columbus). As such, Haxby lists it as "Surviving Example Not Confirmed" in his work. Vignette of Crawford to left and cattle at upper right. Though the proof is impaired with spurious date, serial, and signatures plus six punch hole cancellation repairs and mounting remnants on the back, it is UNC and possesses nice paper quality.
