IFINRA (Instituto Federal de investigadores de la República Argentina) (Federal Institure of Argentinian Researchers de Inhas the honor of presenting the posthumous work of the well-remembered Fernando Chao (h), Awards and decorations in Uruguayan territory 1807-1830, the first book fully sponsored by IFINRA.
With the knodlege that has always characterized him, our dear late Fernando Chao offers journey through a complex period in the history of the territory that is today the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, disputed by the Portuguese, Spanish, Argentinian and the Uruguayan patriots themselves, the scene of conflicts that gave rise to to the minting of numerous awards and medals. The author has tried to identify the pieces in all their variants, with images of known specimens (many of them difficult to find), and presents each one in its historical context, according to a chronological development of events.
As the author himself highlighted, "This is a particular vision of the history between the years 1807 and 1830, told through the decorations awarded by the governments of the countries that fought in the territory of the current Eastern Republic of Uruguay, until the Uruguayan people finally managed to achieve their independence”. It is, thus, a work of interest for Uruguayans, Argentinians and Brazilians, but also for those interested in British, Portuguese and Spanish decorations.
In 136 pages, profusely illustrated in full color, the work, unprecedented in subject matter and depth of treatment, but enjoyable to read, becomes yet another testimony of Fernando Chao's numismatic legacy, and of his great generosity at the time of share knowledge.
