FRANCE, silver engraved Masonic medal for the lodge at Besançon, France, no date (1800s), recognizing lodge archivist J.C.F. Rottie.

21.99 grams. Obverse with raised laurel design encircling engraved Masonic emblem with ribbon reading "O Besançon" above; reverse with same raised laurel design encircling engraved text "a son Archiviste le J.C.F. Rootie la loge Reconnaissante" at center; smooth edge with ARGENT at bottom. Interesting, unique Masonic medal with finely engraved devices which invites further research into J.C.F. Rootie and his involvement with the lodge in Besançon, France. Mint State with some surface hairlines.
