Certifications

CERTIFICATION: Effective February 1, 2023, we have implemented an updated certification policy. All Sedwick & Associates photo certificates are dated, signed, embossed, and secured with a unique holographic sticker. For added protection and long term verification, we maintain copies of all issued certificates in our internal database.

We may, at our discretion, certify items that were not originally purchased through our company, as well as recertify items that have subsequently been resold by a third party. Replacement or duplicate certificates may also be available for items originally acquired from Sedwick & Associates. In such cases, we may request documentation confirming clear title before proceeding, and any replacement certificate will be clearly identified as a duplicate.

For bulk submissions, large quantities, or high value material, reduced rates may be available depending on the circumstances.

  • For coins, paper money, medals, and tokens with a value below $100, we do not provide certificates. However, we will offer verbal authentication at coin shows only.
  • For coins, paper money, medals, and tokens between $100 and $1,000 in value, the cost of certification will be $45 per certificate.
  • For coins, paper money, medals, and tokens between $1,001 and $5,000 in value, the cost of certification will be $95 per certificate.
  • For coins, paper money, medals, and tokens over $5,001 and up to $10,000 in value, the cost of certification will be $175 per certificate.
  • For coins, paper money, medals, and tokens over $10,001 and up to $20,000 in value, the cost of certification will be $250 per certificate. For items valued over $20,001, there will be a charge of $250 plus 1% of the additional value.
  • Artifacts will have a flat fee of $250 per item up to $5,000 in value. For items valued over $5,000, there will be a charge of $250 plus 1% of the additional value base on current market value.

Note in all cases and tiers the current market value will be established by Sedwick & Associates, LLC based on recent sales of similar items (either private or at auction).

Please note that we must inspect the item in person in order to perform certification, and any costs related to shipping and insurance will be billed separately. We reserve the right to certify already mounted or modified items, like pieces of jewelry, framed coins or any type of items that show any form of alteration or repair. Other exceptions might apply to the certification service, certain type of coins or artifacts might not be suitable for certification.

Approved items should be sent by registered and insured mail to the address appearing on this page. Please minimize the use of staples and adhesive tape as these add to the difficulty of opening your package. Coins should be listed with a brief description and an estimate of the value for which you would like them insured when being returned to you. If value is not accurate an adjustment will be performed based on current price replacement value. All submissions must be prepaid with check or money order made payable to "Sedwick & Associates, LLC"
